day 1, WEEK 15

the final song-of-the-week song (WEEK 15)

four months, fifteen weeks, one hundred and five days, and summer is over again until one year later. and by the time it's returned, i hope i will have learned new things, remembered old ones, met new friends, kept in touch with ones who are far away, found good music, eaten great foods, run miles and miles, and had countless adventures.

one year from now i will be in zanzibar, tanzania.

one week from now i will be back in my dorm on campus.

one day from now i don't know what i'll be doing.

one moment from now i will put an end to a blog that gave me something to do for one summer.

"better that you've come from nothing than nothing comes from you"

peace and love.

day 2, WEEK 14

i was sorting through old folders before i leave home for another extended period of months, and i found several old artworks that were meant to be part of a "concentration."  my concentration originally was appropriating other images . . . then it developed into doing this with only four different colors . . . i think the final product was images appropriated into only black, orange, and primary colors, with an overlying theme of childhood . . .

right . . . so, this one was called solitude, and it's a charcoal drawing of me that my best friend made, which i then painted over, and called my own:

fun fact:  i got terrible grades on nearly all of these art pieces!

song-of-the-week song!! (WEEK 14)

day 1, WEEK 14

the first time i saw this poem, it was hanging above a urinal.  now it’s one of my favorites:

i am falling off a mountain by jack prelutsky

I am falling off a mountain
I am plummeting through space
you can tell this does not please me
by the frown upon my face

as the ground keeps getting nearer
it's a simple task to tell
that I've got a slight dilemma
that my days not going well

my velocity's increasing
I am dropping like a stone
I could do with some assistance
is there someone I can phone?

though I'm unafraid of falling
I am prompted to relate
that the landing has me worried
and I don't have long to wait

I am running out of options
there's just one thing left to try
in the next eleven seconds
I have got to learn to fly.
